Sandringham Food Festival

So this weekend, obviously we’re looking forward to Nottingham Food Festival, but last weekend we were at Sandringham for the debut food festival there.

Sandringham Food Festival-97What an amazing weekend!! Fantastic chefs, huge crowds, cool music and hot sunshine.  It was perfect.  Mark Lloyd did a brilliant job hosting in the main food theatre, and Levi Roots,Shelina Permalloo, Baker Brothers and Dean Edwards were all very well received.

The food halls were absolutely crowded from very Sandringham Food Festival-152early each day.  The taste-before-you-buy approach worked well and with everything from homemade sausages, through cheeses, teas of every imaginable flavour, voldka and gin also in every conceivable flavour, wonderful cakes and incredible gadgets, there really was something for everyone.

The wonderful weather meant we could take off all the sides from the music tent, and the Sandringham Food Festival-25 - Copysounds of Hot House Saxophonix, Jamie Cussens and his jazz quintet, and the FB Pocket Orchestra made the piazza a very chilled place to hang out!  Whether in the shade under the sun canopies or catching some rays, it was great to see people chilling and enjoying the food, the music and the sunshine.

Children enjoyed the Pinxton Puppets, the fairground rides and the chocolate workshops Sandringham Food Festival-188especially.  We also had a huge crowd for the Bushtucker Challenge, and the breadmaking worksops and wine tasting were also busy.

Moment in Time excelled themselves, not only baking a tasty looking loaf of bread on an open fire, but also churning their own butter, grinding their own butter and creating a rather nice pork casserole.  They ran out of recipe cards – but if you missed out, click here to find them on their website.

Up the far end of the site, we had the chainsaw Sandringham Food Festival-53 - Copycarving – must have been popular because they all sold out!  The glass blowing demonstrations were also popular and the craft tent full. Then there was a general wandering back up to maybe watch another chef in action, catch a last drink from the real ale tent and maybe Sandringham Food Festival-221queue for an icecream before heading home.

All in all a really excellent weekend and we are now crazily packing everything down ready to put it back up for Nottingham Food Festival this coming weekend!  Different chefs (But just as good), and a lot of the other stuff is the same so come on down!
